Targeted by the Communist Party in the early 1960s, the people of Shreveport, like those of many American cities, persevered. Despite the implementation of Socialist and Communist programs by the federal government, Capitalism has brought business, industry, and wealth to Shreveport and the surrounding area, although crime remains a serious problem.
